Unveiling of Linda Burney's portrait

Do you know that the amazing woman, that Terri Butler and I are pictured with here, Linda Burney, was not recognised in the census of her own country until she was 10 years old?

Today, she is the proudest Wiradjuri woman, the first Aboriginal woman to sit in the House of Representatives, a warrior and fighter for Australians of every gender and ethnicity and background. And an inspiration to us all.

Linda, I am so humbled to sit with you in a Labor Caucus. It was a privilege to be there today when your portrait was unveiled as part of the Parliament’s collection of significant people.
