After all of the shocking and outrageous stories that the Banking Royal Commission uncovered, we need to act on the recommendations and act now. Victims of bank misconduct do not want to see us sit on this report for months, they want to see change, so that what happened to them doesn't happen to other Australians.
Unfortunately, Scott Morrison's part-time government has only scheduled 10 days of Parliament for the beginning of this year. Because of the federal election, this means Parliament will sit for only ten days in eight months - not enough time to get laws in place to clean up the banks. We need to add more days to the sitting calendar to get the job done!
Unfortunately, we shouldn't be surprised by Scott Morrison's reluctance to take action given he and his government voted against the Royal Banking Commission 26 times.
At every opportunity, Scott Morrison has chosen to stand up for the banks over ordinary Australians.
If you want to know more about some of the stories I heard during my roundtable meetings with bank victims, watch the videos below.
