The best part of my job is helping welcome new Australians to their citizenship and so it was pretty great to spend Australia Day morning doing just that.

The journey so many of our newest Aussies have had to go through to get citizenship is genuinely extraordinary. Some have fled their homes, spent years in refugee camps, learned a new language, worked their way through degrees, filled in hundreds of forms, and now here they are - with an Australian citizenship certificate ...that no one can take away from them.
